    [niv] O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple, they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
    [asv] O God, the nations are come into thine inheritance;  Thy holy temple have they defiled;  They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

    [niv] They have given the dead bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air, the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.
    [asv] The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be food unto the birds of the heavens,  The flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.  
    [jnd] The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowl of the heavens, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth:

    [niv] They have poured out blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there is no one to bury the dead.
    [asv] Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem;  And there was none to bury them.

    [niv] We are objects of reproach to our neighbors, of scorn and derision to those around us.
    [asv] We are become a reproach to our neighbors,  A scoffing and derision to them that are round about us.  
    [jnd] We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a mockery and a derision to them that are round about us.

    [niv] How long, O LORD? Will you be angry forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
    [asv] How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou be angry for ever?  Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

    [niv] Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms that do not call on your name;
    [asv] Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that know thee not,  And upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name.  
    [jnd] Pour out thy fury upon the nations that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name:

    [niv] Do not hold against us the sins of the fathers; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need.
    [asv] Remember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers:  Let thy tender mercies speedily meet us;  For we are brought very low.

    [niv] Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.
    [asv] Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God?  Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed  Be known among the nations in our sight.  
    [jnd] Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God? Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants that is shed be known among the nations in our sight.
    [kjv] Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

    [niv] May the groans of the prisoners come before you; by the strength of your arm preserve those condemned to die.
    [asv] Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee:  According to the greatness *of thy power preserve thou *those that are appointed to death;

    [niv] Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times the reproach they have hurled at you, O Lord.
    [asv] And render unto our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom  Their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
